Liver Health
Dietitian Services

Work with a Dietitian to improve your liver health and reduce your risk of chronic disease.
If you have been diagnosed with "fatty liver", elevated liver enzymes or want to focus on general liver health, working with a Registered Dietitian can play an important role in your health journey. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously know as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is the most common form of liver disease in Canada. It affects about 25% of adults and there are many factors that may contribute to developing MASLD. It often occurs alongside conditions like diabetes and insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia (elevated fats in the blood), and high blood pressure. The good news is that it can be reversed in early stages through targeted nutrition and exercise. There are several evidence-based strategies that can result in measurable improvements to your liver health.
I provide personalized nutrition counselling with medical nutrition therapy to support liver function, improve liver enzymes and reduce inflammation. We will discuss strategies to incorporate nutrient-dense and high fibre foods that can help reduce fat in your liver and also help improve associated conditions like elevated cholesterol, triglycerides or insulin resistance. There is growing research to support the connection between gut health and liver health so we will focus on incorporating foods that promote beneficial gut bacteria and help reverse fatty liver disease. We will work together to set goals that are sustainable and you can maintain long term!
