Medical nutrition therapy provided by a Registered Dietitian has the potential to reduce glycated hemoglobin (A1C) by about 1-2%. Nutrition and exercise therapy are often recommended as management strategies when someone is first diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes. However, they are also essential tools for diabetes management long-term and can be very effective for reducing blood sugar and improving overall wellbeing. Optimizing nutrition can also help reduce or delay your need for medication or decrease doses needed to manage your condition.
